How to Check the Map Pin and Address on Your Business Profile
A street address can be correct while a map pin still sends a visitor to the wrong side of a building or across the road. Check the destination from the customer's point of view.
Start with the customer entrance
Open the location in a map app and compare the pin with the entrance customers should use. For a building with multiple units, check the street entrance, floor and suite details.
Confirm the address with the business
Use the business's approved public address. Check spelling, locality, postal code and any landmark that customers need. Do not publish a private residential address unless the owner has chosen to make it public.
Check how the pin appears on a phone
Zoom in and inspect nearby roads, access gates and building labels. If customers use a separate entrance, provide clear instructions on the website and confirm the marker matches the public location.
Update each public listing consistently
Correct the Google Business Profile and then review the website and other directories. Keep a record of the requested change and revisit the public listing because provider review may take time.
Avoid exposing a customer's private location
A customer enquiry should collect only the location information needed to respond. Explain why a map point is requested and where it will be sent before a visitor submits the form.
